On the Move with Lucius Winston (Harlem Globetrotters)

We are 'On The Move with...' four time Guinness World record holder, and Harlem Globetrotters basketballer, Lucius Winston. Winston is going into his 8th season with the team and holds the Guiness World record for most basketball layups in one minute and the most bounced basketball figure-eight moves in one minute.

  1. How did you get into basketball? I started playing basketball when I was 3 years old. My older brothers and my dad played in college. As a kid I would play basketball on my mini hoop until I would fall asleep on the floor.
  2. What are your other interests? I like to workout, coach and train kids in basketball. It’s amazing to see their development overtime. I have a couple of kids I have trained in college right now and to be able to go to their games and see them playing a sport and doing well and reaching their goals is rewarding to me.
  3. Where’s your favourite place you’ve travelled? I’ll say two locations, the first one is Spain, the food, the people, and the atmosphere. Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, and Malaga. Lastly Australia, just finished a tour there, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney were my favorite cities while I was there. Crowds were amazing, the hotels, the staff we worked with were great. Can’t wait to go back there.
  4. Where do you want to travel next? A place I would want to travel to next is Africa, I would love to get a chance to not only to play there but work with the youth and teach them the game as well.
  5. What’s inside your travel bag? Inside my bag when I travel are shoes (at least 2 or 3 pairs), headphones, bluetooth speaker, my tripod for content, cologne (gotta smell good), my iPad, change of clothes, toiletries, and some fruit snacks.
  6. What’s next for you? Next on my schedule... I have another tour coming up in October. Can’t wait to get back on the court and keep making memories worth repeating with our fans on and off the floor.
